Another quick poll. All the research I have done has led me to this really interesting British graphic designer called Barney Bubbles...... I would be interested to know how many of you know his work?

Barney Bubbles is probably the best British Post Second World War graphic artist of the last century. Sadly he committed suicide. There is a book, now in second printing titled "Reasons To Be Cheerful" and I would recommend it to anyone vaguely interested in design. I live in NYC , but I believe there was a retrospective of his work somewhere in Chelsea (London) last year.

An inspiration to all. Bloody marvelous!! If you don't know his work -you still know his work if you were around in the 70s T

I knew his name from at least two 7" single covers I have. First the original English
'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' - Ian Dury and The Blockheads (Stiff - Buy 38, 1978)
the second 'Meant It For A Minute' - Carlene Carter (Dutch Epic - A-3700, 1983)

which is identical with 'C'est c bon' - Carlene Carter (English Epic album - EPC 25523, 1983)
His original name was Colin Fulcher a.k.a. 'Barney Bubbles'.

I have read Reasons to be cheerful by Paul Gorman however my path to him was the glorious Elvis Costello's Imperial bedroom cover. Barney Bubbles actually did the art work for this as well as the Graphic design. The reason for the poll is to see how many record collectors around the world are aware of his work.....my final outcome is going to be a 100 second moving image piece ( We had to produce a product linked to 100 and our collection) See earlier poll.. Thanks for your replies so far
